LOCATION
Evergreen, Colorado sits at an elevation of 7,220 feet in the Rocky Mountains, 15 miles west of Denver, Colorado.
Evergreen, Colorado was first founded by homesteader Thomas Bergen who arrived in 1859 and established a ranch and stage stop north of present-day downtown Evergreen. Bergen’s Ranch was recognized as a settled area at the establishment of Jefferson County, Jefferson Territory. Following settlers homesteaded south of Bergen along Bear Creek Canyon and the downtown area grew around the Cub Creek and Bear Creek. Fellow homesteader Dwight P. Wilmot is credited with naming the area “Evergreen”; his home has since been preserved and still functions as a private residence across the street from his namesake Wilmot Elementary School.
Dear Kids,
Are you getting excited for Christmas this year? Mrs. Claus and I are! Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen have been waiting all year to get to take me out on Christmas Eve to deliver your presents. They have been working out hard to stay in shape so they can get to all the boys and girls in just one night while you all are sleeping.
